K IS FOR KATNISS EVERDEEN:

Katniss Everdeen is the ultimate hero in a world where heroes are uncommon.  At sixteen years of age, she is the sole provider for her family.  Keeping herself, her little sister Prim, and absentminded mother alive is her primal goal.  When she is thrust into The Hunger Games to protect Prim, Katniss finds herself out of her element.  She must think of not only surviving, but also how to right an epic wrong. 

What I love about Katniss is her strength.  She's tough but sensitive where it counts.  She has this undeniable need to be her own person, to not owe anyone.  This is what makes her special!
